Facet is designed so that its core photo analysis happens on your device.

Facet requests access to your photo library so it can display your gallery and power the Adaptive Gallery. Your photos are processed locally on your device. We do not upload your photos to our servers, view your photo library, sell your photos, or use your photos to train AI models.

Facet may store classification results and app settings locally on your device. This helps the app work faster and avoid re-analysing the same photos. These local classification results are not sent to Facet servers.

If Facet crashes or behaves unexpectedly, you may choose to send us a crash report. Crash reports may include technical information such as your device model, operating system version, app version, error logs, performance diagnostics, and the time of the crash. Crash reports are not intended to include your photos and are only sent if you choose to send them.

If you join the beta through our website, we collect the information you submit, such as your email address, platform, device model, and any optional message. We use this information to manage beta access and contact you about Facet’s development.

What information do we collect?

Photos: accessed locally on your device, not collected by Facet.

Local app data: classification results and settings stored on your device.

Crash reports: optional, only sent if you choose.

Beta signup data: email, platform, device model, optional message.

Support emails: whatever the user sends us.

Google Play and Apple may provide us with app distribution, installation, crash, and performance information under their own privacy terms.

Who do we share information with?

Squarespace for the website and beta form.

Google Workspace / Google Sheets for email and beta signup management.

Google Play / Apple App Store for app distribution.

How long do we keep data for?

Beta signup information is kept until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or it is no longer needed for the beta.

Crash reports are kept only as long as needed to investigate reliability issues.

Local classification data remains on your device until you delete the app, clear app data, or reset analysis.

Your rights

You have rights over the personal information we hold about you. These may include the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;

  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;

  • ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances;

  • ask us to restrict or stop certain uses of your personal information;

  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests;

  • withdraw consent where we rely on consent, such as beta update emails or optional crash report submission;

  • ask for information you provided to us in a portable format, where this applies.

Most of Facet’s photo analysis data stays on your device, so we may not be able to access or delete local app data remotely. You can delete local Facet data by deleting the app, clearing app data, or using any reset/delete options provided inside the app.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information.
